The Adelaide Hills Division of General Practice (AHDGP) is a charitable organisation that has been supporting Hills GPs and their community since 1996.

Since 1st March 2013, AHDGP has been trading under the business name “Summit Health”.

Divisions of General Practice were established in 1992 in response to the General Practice Reform Strategy.

GPs were invited to form networks (Divisions) of which there were approximately 111 Australia wide.

By networking with other GPs, Service Providers and the wider Community, GPs were better able to manage the increasing complexities and changes within primary care.

The Directors of AHDGP were of the view that the changes being implemented across the health sector would have a significant impact on General Practice, particularly in our region which formed only a small rural component to a much larger urban population.  The Board believed a new name would assist and opted for a new trading name of Summit Health and a broader membership base encompassing primary care in its entirety.
