COVID-19 Update

Important information:

COVID-19 HEALTH ALERT - SA Borders opened November 23rd

GPcare is committed to keeping our patients, staff and doctors safe at all times.

Please visit the SA Health website for information - including if you need to self-isolate, quarantine or get tested.

Please be advised of the following policy changes when booking an appointment at GPcare.

If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms:

All patients with respiratory symptoms (cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, or a loss of sense of smell or taste), need to phone for an appointment (do not book online) and you will receive instructions for your appointment, it is important for everyone’s safety that you DO NOT ENTER the waiting room.

Telehealth in the first instance will be utilised and if you require a face to face review, you may be required to have a negative COVID-19 swab within 72 hours of your appointment; the GP will instruct this as required. We will be utilising an external assessment area for face to face assessments.

Masks are mandatory:

All patients coming to GPcare will be required to wear a correctly fitted face mask at all times - mask exemptions will not be accepted and these patients will be offered telehealth in the first instance.

COVID-19 Vaccination Status:

Vaccination status is now part of GPcare’s patient screening policy. Patients 12 years and over will be asked about their COVID-19 vaccination status and may be requested to present proof on arrival to GPcare for face to face appointments.

Unvaccinated patients 12 years and over will be offered telehealth in the first instance and your doctor will advise of your options if face to face consultation is required.

Vaccinated patients and children under 12 years (must be accompanied by a vaccinated caregiver) with no respiratory symptoms will be seen as usual for face to face appointments.

Telehealth –Fees may apply if patients are not eligible for telehealth under Medicare.

We have a COVID-Safe Plan and require all visitors to scan the QR code or register their details.

It is essential to continue to observe social distancing and we continue to limit numbers in our waiting room, we ask you not to remain in the waiting area unnecessarily and, where a carer is required to accompany an appointment, this is limited to one person.

To continue to deliver our high standards of care, the changes we make will be to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and doctors as the COVID-19 environment changes. We thank you for your respect and patience.

For a phone consult with a GP please phone GPcare on 1300 472 273.
