At the initial telehealth consult the GP will assess if a follow-up in-practice consult is required and arrange this for you.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) UPDATE – as at 9am Fri 20 March

The COVID-19 CLINIC is now open at MOUNT BARKER HOSPITAL

Please DO NOT come to GPcare or Summit Health Centre.

The Clinic is located on the opposite side of the hospital in the OLD DAY CARE CENTRE accessible via GATE 3.

It is open 9am – 5pm, seven days a week but closed between 12 and 1 for lunch break. There is no phone number at this stage.

Directions are on the front door of the hospital, you cannot get there via the hospital main entrance so please do not enter the hospital. There are yellow footsteps from the main entrance of the Hospital to the COVID-19 Clinic.

This clinic is for people who meet the guidelines for COVID-19 symptoms. Currently this is: fever or cough AND have recently returned from overseas OR have had contact with a known COVID-19 case OR a health care worker with respiratory symptoms and a fever over 37.5.

It is a Walk-in Service. You do not need a referral from your GP, but nurses at the COVID-19 Clinic will only test people who meet the above criteria – this may well change as community transmission becomes more widespread.

Visit SA Health website for up to date information.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) UPDATE – as at 8.30am Fri 6 March

GPcare can further clarify that the confirmed COVID-19 presentation attended our practice on Tuesday 3 March between 11.15am and 12:00 noon.

During this period approximately 20 minutes were spent in the waiting room. SA Health guidelines were followed by our staff during this time and subsequently the patient is now in the care of SA Health.

GPcare have been in regular contact with the Communicable Disease Control Branch who have identified that the level of interaction is considered ‘casual’ and it is both appropriate and safe for the practice to continue to provide care for the rest of the community.

We understand the community concern around COVID-19 and will provide as much information as we can as, and when, it becomes available.

For more information on the guidelines relating to casual contact of a confirmed case please visit this website.

If you still have any questions then please feel free to ring during normal business hours on 1300 472 273.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – as at Thurs 5 March

GPcare can confirm that a person has presented at GPcare this week and was identified as being at risk of the COVID-19 virus.

The person was managed in line with the recommended guidelines from SA Health.

Tests subsequently proved positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and SA Health have taken over the care of the individual.

SA Health confirmed that, as the practice had only casual contact with the individual, it was both appropriate and safe for the practice to continue to provide care to the rest of the community.

GPcare remains open and available to its patients and is confident that its procedures are both robust and consistent with recommended guidelines.
