Mental Health Update – Child Wellbeing Program
19 Aug 2013As you would be aware from previous updates, Summit Health has been offering counselling services to children aged up to 12 years and their families since November last year.
Provisional referrals to this program can be accepted from sources other than GPs in the first instance. For us to continue to provide services a referral from the child’s GP must be received by our service within 4 weeks of the first counselling session we provide. We ask parents to make a long appointment with their GP for the completion of the appropriate referral form.
The template for the Child Treatment Plan (2715/2717) is on our templates page, along with instructions on how to load it into your computer system. Your support in completing the referral is appreciated.
Numbers of clients accessing the Child Wellbeing Program have continued to grow steadily. Last week we had a new Clinician join our team in a contract capacity to provide the specialist counselling required for children. We warmly welcome Kath Beattie (Occupational Therapist) who will be working from our office in Nairne on Thursdays. She joins Steve Hunt who is the other Clinician working in the Child Wellbeing Program also from Nairne on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
