Is the Centre part of the Mount Barker Hospital?

No, the Centre is owned and operated by Summit Health. It is located next to—but physically separate from—the hospital. It houses a general practice and many other health services. See here for more details

Is there a General Practice at the Centre?

GPcare is an extended-hours General Practice at the Centre that is open 6 days a week.

Is there a Doctor available all night?

Yes, there is a Doctor available at the Centre until approximately 6pm Monday to Friday and also Saturday mornings. We have implemented an overnight Doctor presence at the Mount Barker Hospital after the Summit Health Centre has closed, so you just need to go next door if you get here and we are not open.

Is there wheelchair access and a drop off area at the front for immobile patients?

Yes.

What level of procedures are available at the Centre?

Minor surgical procedures are possible but there is no day theatre.

Is it a bulk-billing health facility?

No, each service provider at the Centre (there are over 20!) will have their own billing policy and information on this is available at the facility and on our website.
