Professional Profile

Daphne Mok is a multilingual speech pathologist with a focus on adult dysphagia. She has extensive experience in the acute and sub-acute care settings and managing complex dysphagia in a Swallowing Disorders Clinic outpatient service. She provided multidisciplinary care in collaboration with Gastroenterology, Neurology and Dietetics.

Daphne is proficient in Videofluoroscopy Swallow Study assessments and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing. She has previous peer-reviewed publications in dysphagia research journals and is interested in ongoing collaboration in clinical research.

Daphne speaks Mandarin and Cantonese.

Service Overview

When GPs have concerns about a patients’ swallow function, Daphne will assist them by providing comprehensive swallow assessments and management.

This service is for initial and follow-up consultations, and objective swallow assessments via videofluoroscopy.

Dysphagia symptoms may include:

  • Recurrent chest infections
  • Coughing during oral intake
  • Wet/gurgly voice
  • Weight loss
  • Painful swallowing
  • Reports of sensation of food sticking in pharynx or oesophagus
  • Regurgitation during or post oral intake
  • Nasal regurgitation during oral intake
