Dr Richard Wells

Richard is the Consultant Urologist to the Mount Barker Hospital and consults privately in Adelaide, Stirling and at the Summit Health Centre Mount Barker.  Having spent 16 years as a Visiting Urologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, he is now consolidating his time to provide a regular private and public service to the Hills Community. This includes weekly consulting in the Hills region and three operating lists a month.

Richard has trained in Australia and the United Kingdom and has spent the past 17 years in private practice.  His fellowship in the United Kingdom involved a Fellowship in open and laparoscopic surgery.

He has performed robotically assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy for prostate cancer since early 2008, as well as performing  robotically-assisted Nephrectomy, Partial Nephrectomy and Pyeloplasty, having completed over 800 robotically assisted procedures.    He enjoys the challenges and benefits of minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and the improvement in patient outcomes and recovery this brings.

Richard manages all urological problems and has regular operating lists at St Andrews, Stirling and Mount Barker hospital.  He offers a wide range of management options for Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms including TURP, Greenlight Laser, Plasma button and Urolift.

He has the benefit of working closely with a great team of 8 urologists who provide 24 hour urological cover with associated nursing and administrative back up.
